Our previous event asked:
what is... Light to you?
We asked a social media group in Hull with an active group of thousands of followers. Responses were made available to the artists to incorporate into their work for the What is...Light exhibition March 2018.
Some of your responses:
... Light is....the illumination of the truth...in the same way that shadows are a distortion of the truth.
...Light from the sun is a good source of Vitamin D
...The light-bulb moment of enlightened epiphany
...The light breaks the darkness, it lifts my mood and makes me happy. GIVE ME MORE LIGHT!
... Light is life without it we are dark
... Light. The absence of darkness.
... Light is on borrowed time so she is fierce
...I'm just trying to keep my head above water, so that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
...The light where everything is clear & you know where you are going & you can "see" clearly, feel the vision of the future of your path.
...Ave you got a light?
...The light at the end of a long tunnel are the days I see the smiles of my grandchildren
... It can be a moment of fun and laughter, or a moment of joy and love.
... Fear of the dark as a child has led me to possessing an astonishing number of torches at 60.
... Light is actually really important in our house. My partner is partially sighted, he relies on good lighting (and plenty of it) to go about his day to day life.
... Not heavy
... My family is my light
... Reflection and transmission of colour!
... In every area Light is what helps us truly see and brings us freedom.
... A beautiful soul shining so brightly it touches the hearts of all who see it
... The knowledge that one is coming out of a darkness hopefully
...The minimum wage
... An energy
... Light to me represents safety, warmth and relief.
...The sun shines on us all, whoever and whatever we are.
... Feathers
... The Sun
... Like a slap across the head
... Its in all of us
... Orbs, our ancestors
... Reassuring
